DEFCON
A MorphOS port of DEFCON, Introversion Software's real-time strategy game of global nuclear war. Command a superpower's arsenal from your bunker and wage the unwinnable war — the only score that matters is how many millions you lose.
About
DEFCON is a real-time strategy game by Introversion Software, released in 2006 and inspired by the 1983 film WarGames. You take control of one of the world's superpowers and stare down a giant vector map of the planet as the DEFCON level counts down toward all-out nuclear exchange.
Place your radar stations, silos, airbases, fleets and submarines, form (and break) fragile alliances with other commanders, then launch your bombers and ICBMs. There is no winning — victory is simply losing fewer of your own cities than everyone else. The stark interface and rising death toll turn every game into an exercise in cold, calculated brinkmanship.
This port brings DEFCON to MorphOS. It runs the original game, so you need the full retail version's data files to play (see requirements below).
Features
Global thermonuclear war
Command silos, bombers, fleets and submarines across a real-time map of the whole planet.
Every death counts
A live megadeath toll keeps score. The winner is whoever loses the least — nobody truly survives.
Brinkmanship multiplayer
Up to six commanders, online or LAN, with shifting alliances that almost always end in betrayal.
Minimalist interface
A cold, glowing vector command screen inspired by 1980s war rooms and the film WarGames.
Tense pacing
The DEFCON countdown gates what you can do, building dread from silent placement to the final salvo.
Native on MorphOS
Play the Introversion classic straight on your MorphOS machine, using your own copy of the game.
